The LANGRO History

Partner of the leather industry since 1933

Since the company was founded in 1933, Langro has concentrated on the development and manufacture of chemical products for leather finishing. Important milestones in the company's development into a global technology leader embedded in the TRUMPLER Group can be traced in our timeline.

2021

Claus Reineking succeeds
Tilo Schumacher in the executive leadership.

The management team of LANGRO is completed by Hein Vugs and Joachim Müller-Damerau.

2019

TRUMPLER acquires the finishing business of LANGRO-Chemie

Under the umbrella of the TRUMPLER Group, LANGRO-Chemie continues to be a trusted brand in the leather industry.

2015

Establishment of Langro-Chemie International Hong Kong

Start of production of selected finishing products at LANGRO-India

2008

75th anniversary of LANGRO-Chemie

Acquisition and expansion of the new development and administration building on Porschestraße. In 2008, over 50 employees work at the Stuttgart location; LANGRO-Chemie employs over 100 employees worldwide. To this day, LANGRO-Chemie is represented in all major leather centers through its own subsidiaries or independent representations.

2000 - 2008

In 2006, Marco Lang takes over from Jürgen Lang in the executive leadership.

In 2000, Marco Lang joins LANGRO-Chemie. The company introduces the first products based on newly developed nano-technology.

1990 - 2000

In 1998, Tilo Schumacher succeeds Dieter Schumacher as managing director.

Establishment of subsidiaries in Italy, France, Japan, Brazil, Turkey, and India. Construction of "Alaska" for dispersion mixtures and dye solutions.

1980 - 1990

In 1983, LANGRO-Chemie celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Environmentally friendly alternatives to nitro products are developed, and with water-based finishing systems, LANGRO-Chemie becomes a pioneering leader of this method. Significant product expansion in polyurethanes: special dispersions are added to the program. Development of a water-based reverse coating method for split leather. Development of products for furniture and car upholstery. Further expansions into Europe and Asia.
